The advantages are that the tougher high density layers spread the force of the landing climber on the top side and also help lessen the effects of uneven ground/rocks on the underside.

A comfortable rucksack style carrying system complete with waistbelt can be quickly changed to an over-the-shoulder style arrangement.

The closure flaps are secured with aluminium load-locker buckles. Rubber moulded carrying handles are ideal for moving the mat when in situe, or for carrying as a 'suitcase.' Extra loops and straps are provided to clip and secure an additional bag etc on the outside when carrying.

A carpet square is provided for cleaning rock shoes on.
